Members of the Buck women’s group, the Double X’s, are passionate about empowering girls and women in science education. Based on the Impact 100 model, the group aims to improve the lives of women by funding significant grants that make a lasting impact in the Marin community.
Meeting once a quarter at the Institute or hosted in member homes, the Double X’s receive updates on the latest research from Buck scientists as well as tips on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. The Double X’s collectively fund projects that focus on K-12 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education, as well as graduate and postdoctoral fellowships with each woman contributing $1,000 to the effort.
This past year, the Double X’s provided scholarships to youth to attend one of our summer camps. The group looks forward to expanding their support to postdoctoral fellows this year.
